In many areas of hip hop culture, violence goes with the territory. Although some rappers like Childish Gambino may come from more peaceful backgrounds, others grew up in neighborhoods where it’s hard not to make enemies. Maybe the most famous example. The interesting thing about 50 Cent is that the bullet in his jaw gave him a slurred, slower flow on the mic. He worked being shot nine times not only into the content, but into the very craft of his rap.
