Remy Ma Likes Dojo Cat But Says She isn’t A Rapper

Veteran female emcee, Remy Ma, recently gave the Drink Champs podcast a classic interview. The first lady of the Terror Squad talked about everything from her career, her close relationship with mentor Fat Joe, her position on the past Nicki Minaj beef and more. During the pow wow with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, singer Doja Cat’s name popped up. But when N.O.R.E referred to Doja as a rapper, Remy quickly rectified his statement.

“I don’t think she’s a rapper,” Remy Ma stated. “Let’s be clear with that. They put her in the rapper category, I don’t think she’s a rapper. But she makes dope records, and I think she’s dope.”

Remy Ma Likes Doja Cat … But Says She’s No Rapper

This statement seemed to piss a lot of Doja Cat fans off, some even insisting that not only was Doja a rapper, but a better one than Remy. It took no time before Twitter exploded.  “Remy Ma saying Doja Cat isn’t a rapper just pissed me off. Bitch are YOU a rapper? What was the last song YOU released?” someone tweeted.

Another added, “Is Doja Cat a rapper?” Mmm nah wouldn’t necessarily say that however she does rap alot of verses over pop beats. Sooo gotta agree with Remy Ma. She def dope af tho,” while another said, “Y’all have to understand where Remy Ma is coming from. She grew up in a time where artists were rapping, not singing. Doja Cat’s music is more pop than rap, and that’s a fact.”

I agree with Remy on this one. To call her a rapper would also be calling the music she makes Hip Hop; which its not.
