After the very sad news of the death of comedian James McNair, 63, from the horrific crash on the New Jersey Turnpike we are still hopeful for the full recovery of fellow comedian-actor Tracy Morgan and three others who were beside them as passengers in the limo when they were struck by a Georgia truck driver in the early hours of Saturday morning.
CNN reports that the truck driver, “Kevin Roper, 35, of Jonesboro, was charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto after the tractor-trailer he was driving crashed into the limo bus carrying the comedian and others.”
Christopher Thompson, spokesman for limo owner Atlantic Transportation Services, said “Although the investigation is still pending, we concur with the preliminary reports that the accident was caused by another vehicle traveling behind the Atlantic limo bus and we are grateful that our drivers did not sustain life-threatening injuries.”
Morgan wrapped his role as himself on NBC’s 30 Rock at the beginning of 2013 when the show finished after seven seasons and then returned to stand-up comedy with his tour Turn It Funny. In his video below with the Associated Press he talks about his love of performing live and how laughter is the best medicine.
