The grand jury’s decision not to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the killing of Michael Brown has everyone talking. For decades, Hip-Hop music has served as the soundtrack for the country’s outrage and unrest when events like the Michael Brown shooting occurs. Original spoken word artists The Last Poets and the late Gil Scott Heron are credited for being the forefathers of radical Hip-Hop and are legendary for protesting the rights of African-Americans in their music. Many Hip-Hop artists have followed in their lead getting out their emotions and anger about injustice on the microphone.
