The city of Dubai plans to introduce intelligent robots in 2017 to eventually replace street cops in an attempt to better serve Dubai residents without, as population expands, hiring more officers. The police androids will patrol the streets, malls, and other crowded public spaces. Unlike the actual Robocop from the 1987 film these cops wont fight crime, but instead will serve as guards and public information terminals. Khalid Nasser Alrazooqui, head of Dubai’s smart unit, said:

“The robots will interact directly with people and tourists. They will include an interactive screen and microphone connected to the Dubai Police call centers. People will be able to ask questions and make complaints, but they will also have fun interacting with the robots.”

What do you think of these Robocops? If introduced to America, do you think raging Police crimes will cease to exist???
