Hip Hop legend RZA and off the wall rapper Azealia Banks are teaming up for a musical drama titled Coco, a movie about a young girl with dreams on pursuing a hip-hop career but persuaded by her parents to finish college. In a poetry class, she is transfixed by “the power of the spoken word,” developing a verbal strength that ends up propelling her toward her rap goals. The movie, which already has begun shooting in NYC, also stars Common as a mentor figure and Jill Scott as a professor. Coco will be RZA’s directorial debut on the silver screen and said:

I’m extremely excited and vigorously inspired to be working with Azealia Banks in my new directorial installment. Producer Paul Hall and I have assembled a cool and eclectic cast to surround Azealia. Our story, which is set in today’s contemporary youth culture, will bring a new voice to cinema that needs to be heard.

Although the release date hasn’t been confirmed, what are your thoughts on the movie? Do you think RZA did a good job in casting trouble child rapper, Azealia Banks as the main character?
