Hip Hop group Public Enemy who were the self-proclaimed “Prophets of Rage” released their classic Black empowerment song “Fight The Power” in 1989. The song served as the musical theme for Spike Lee’s 1989 film Do The Right Thing. In the video, Public Enemy’s leading members Chuck D and Flavor Flav gathered an army of people and marched through the streets of Brooklyn while protesting African-American rights.
