Father Michael Phleger of St. Sabina’s Church on Chicago’s South Side has a problem with rapper Chief Keef. After Chief Keef announced that he would be holding a benefit concert for his slain friend and rapper Capo who was killed last week, Father Phleger took to Twitter and Facebook to denounce the performance and tell Chief Keef to “Shut Up!” Chief Keef was scheduled to perform at Chicago’s Redmoon Theatre on July 17th as a hologram from Los Angeles. However, after Father Phleger convinced organizers that it wasn’t a good idea, his performance was postponed. Alki David who was the organizer of the performance and CEO of Hologram USA which is the company that would have provided Chief Keef’s hologram performance released the following statement: [ad type=’inarticle1′] “Chief Keef’s Stop the Killing Now benefit concert has been postponed. The meddling, attention seeking Father Pfleger, who bullied the owner of the downtown theater to back out of his contract, will not succeed. He is exploiting this tragedy and taking money away from the victims and solid charities who are doing good work in Chicago. Chief Keef is 19 years old and a loving father. His example of new maturity, redemption, and wanting to give back can influence young people on the South Side like no caterwauling clergyman can. We will bring Keef’s message of peace to the streets.” Read Father Michael Phleger’s tweet about Chief Keef below. [ad type=’inarticle2′]
