Flashback to 1998, Big Pun had just dropped one of the best hip hop albums of all time with Capital Punishment. The offering was a lyrical exercise that combined both rapid flows and punchlines that would make you press rewind. Big Pun and Fat Joe’s Terror Squad looked to cement their status as one of hip hop top dogs, and then in 2000 the Bronx native passed away after a heart attack.

Fat Joe recently revealed that in addition to Big Pun, he had the chance to sign Eminem.
“Man I got so many regrets…The biggest is that Eminem gave me so many demos, six different times he approached me and I didn’t sign him. Shame on me.”
