When Starz unleashed its newest series Power, many quickly became enamored with the show’s star Omari Hardwick. Hardwick has flexed his acting muscles as New York’s biggest drug lord and is now equipped financially thanks to the success of Power. Before he was a primetime wonder, Hardwick was struggling to simply find a place to sleep. He was once a substitute teacher and football coach, all while mentoring Denzel’s son, John David.

During his interview with The Real’s Loni Love, Hardwick spoke on his rough beginnings before finally realizing his dreams in Hollywood. “They perfectly and appropriately didn’t help me out,” he said. “They gave me shelter when I didn’t have a place to stay or whatever but they sort of allowed me to be close enough to the family so I sort of transitioned into getting an agent…the whole thing…doing all these odd jobs.”

Talk about a come up. In case you were wondering, season three of Power will be back in June. SHARE with your friends.
