Sierra Lewis was reared in The Bronx after being born in Brooklyn, New York City.She started composing poetry at a young age. Her mother was killed in a hit-and-run vehicle accident when she was 12 years old. Her brother hit her in the mouth as she attempted to enter her residence when she was 16 years old, leaving a scar on her lip that subsequently served as the inspiration for her stage moniker. She claims that while she was living with her aunt and uncle, they mistreated her.
Scar Lip first became well-known when her song “Glizzy Gobbler” from 2022 became a meme on TikTok. In the same month that she appeared on the Swizz Beatz, Jadakiss, and Benny the Butcher song “Take ‘Em Out” from Swizz Beatz’s extended play (EP), Hip Hop 50: Vol. 2, her single “This is New York” was produced by NY Bangers. “This is New York” rose to fame on TikTok and quickly became her breakthrough song, and in May 2023, a remix of the song called “This is Cali” with Snoop Dogg was also made available. In June 2023, she signed with Epic Records. Scars & Stripes, Scar Lip’s anticipated debut EP, will be entirely produced by Swizz Beatz.
