With shows like Love and Hip Hop and Empire succeeding on television, VH1 is making another movie inspired by hip-hop culture. The Breaks will be based off of the narrative book The Big Payback, which tells the story of the early beginnings of the hip-hop music industry. Seith Mann (The Wire, The Walking Dead, Homeland) will be writing, directing, and executive producing the film. In addition, DJ Premier will be scoring and producing the movie, which focuses on a fictional tale of three friends trying to make it in the industry in the 1990s. Stay tuned for more information.
