In the midst of Kanye West prepping his anticipated release, Rihanna’s resurgence, and the behemoth that is Beyonce creating a stir with her new banger “Formation”, two marquee artists are hoping to make a splash of their own. For years, Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz toyed with the idea of dropping an EP together. Now, they both are making good on their promises by delivering their long-awaited Collegrove project.

With both artists peaking at the right time, you have to wonder what kind of material they will present us with in Collegrove. The name originates from both of the rappers respective hometowns. Chainz grew up in College Park, Atlanta, while Wayne grew up in HollyGrove, New Orleans. The two have collaborated before on Wayne’s single “Rich as F***”, which earned rave reviews. They each have very distinctive styles, as Wayne tends to be the more lyrical one out of the pair. Still, 2 Chainz can dazzle on occasion and drop poignant verses a la “Mercy.”

The only problem is do we really care at this point considering it’s Yeezy Season?
