On Tuesday, Fetty Wap checked in at his hometown of Patterson, New Jersey to give back to the community that raised him. Fetty Wap celebrated Easter a little early with Patterson by giving out gift cards to the folks that came through to the local Price Rite store, perhaps making Patterson’s Easter shopping a little less hard on the pockets.

Crowds of hundreds of people could be seen lining the block in anticipation of Fetty Wap’s arrival, with police present in case any type of drama unfolded. Marie Sweeney-Tevis, director of marketing and community relations for Inserra Supermarkets, said they were glad to have Fetty Wap in the store.

“We’re very excited to have somebody who loves the city as much as us come into the store and want to give back,” She said. “That’s really great.”

Before Fetty started handing out gift cards, he took a moment to do an interview with a news reporter, who asked him what made him want to come and help the people. “That’s Patterson,” he said. “It’s the hometown, and that’s what I’m all about… Anything I can do to help, especially with my hometown, I’ma always be there.”

In the same interview, Fetty Wap goes on to explain how he is familiar hard times, noting his familiarity with food stamps, Section 8, and social welfare. Through this generous charitable act, Fetty shows that he hasn’t forgotten where he’s come from in the slightest. As he handed out the gift cards, which seem to have been priced anywhere from $10 to $25 dollars, Fetty was giving out daps and hugs with a smile.

This isn’t the first charitable act by Fetty Wap by any means. Back in November, Fetty gave out 500 turkeys to Patterson residents for Thanksgiving, which marked his third year giving out turkeys in the town. In a more lavish move back in 2015, Fetty Wap was seen throwing money off the balcony of the Garden State Plaza Mall.

Fetty Wap’s most recent project was the mixtape For My Fans 3: The Final Chapter, released in late January. One of the more notable tracks out he has out now is on 6ix9ine’s “Keke”. His sophomore album is supposedly titled King Zoo, but has no official release date yet. Stay tuned for more Fetty Wap updates!
