Women are readily being accepted for being gay in hip hop in contrast to men. Rappers like Siya and Angel Haze have admitted to both being lesbians and openly rap about it in their music. The Internet’s star, Syd the Kid, is the lead singer and is also open about her sexuality. Fans have accepted their sexuality with no hesitation and haven’t allowed it to deter them from listening to their projects. While, no big name male rapper hasn’t taken the route, the door still remains open for that artist to do so. Only time will tell, if they’ll be able to make it happen. If the NBA can allow themselves to accept a gay player, and two referees in a male-dominated and physical sport, why can’t rap do the same?
