The third annual Global Spin Awards took place on Tuesday night in New York City at New World Stages. The awards show honors DJ’s for their contribution to music and entertainment. The show was televised for the first time this year on Sean “Diddy” Combs Revolt network and was hosted by TV personality LaLa Anthony. The show featured performances and appearances from Swizz Beats, Ne-Yo, Rakim, Das EFX, Jermaine Dupri, Nice and Smooth, Busta Rhymes and O.T. Genasis who performed his hit song “CoCo.” Notable honorees at the event included DJ Khaled who was awarded DJ Album of the Year for Suffering From Success, Diplo who got EDM DJ of the Year award and DJ Mustard who received an award for DJ of the Year.
Highlights from the night included DJ Premier receiving the Legendary DJ Award, Funkmaster Flex receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award and Swizz Beats announcing that he would be donating $100,000 for next year’s Global Spin Awards show.
