YG premiered his new film Blame It On The Streets at Tribeca Cinemas in NYC last night. DJ Mustard, Elliot Wilson and Executive Vice President of A&R of Def Jam Recordings No I.D. were all in attendance. No I.D. introduced YG stating:

“I saw the beginnings of where he (YG) was and I saw the pain and I saw the growth and I saw the struggle. I take my hat off. It is important that we champion urban music and we expand it.”

After the screening, Elliot Wilson hosted a Q&A session with YG. During the session, YG mentioned getting his inspiration to make Blame It On The Streets from Snoop Dogg’s Murder Was The Case (1994) and Jay-Z’s Streets Is Watching (1998) films. Elliot Wilson also asked YG why he named the film “Blame It On The Streets” and YG stated:

“That’s the perfect fit. It shows people how stuff goes on the street. People like to blame their mamas. Blame it on the streets. Some people might think it’s ignorant. I’m just giving my fans the lifestyle.”

Blame It On The Streets will be released on December 15th. Check out the Q&A session and more pics from last night’s screening below. Also, stay tuned for our special YG giveaway coming soon!
