Has President Barack Obama gone soft? Not quite!
In unusual attempts to fix the nation’s criminal justice system, President Barack Obama is lessoning the sentences of non-violent offenders. Reports are confirming that, in total, Obama is reducing the sentences of 46 inmates to reduce the current prison population and operating costs.

From December 2014 to March of 2015 the Obama administration has granted clemency to 30 prisoners, by basically setting them free. There is also a legislation in the works that, if approved, will shorten mandatory minimum sentences.
