Hip Hop Is Spotify’s Most Popular Global Genre

Hip-hop started off local, now it’s safe to say that the genre is certified global. Streaming giant Spotify just put out an analytics report showing the most popular song by country and continent, and their findings may or may not surprise you.

While EDM may dominate the country, Spotify reports almost all of the 1,000+ cities they studied across the world had hip-hop tracks on their playlists. On the flip side, Fetty Wap’s Trap Queen and Wiz Khalifa’s and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again” are dominating North and South America! Check out the full graph/study here.
