Back in the day, during the Civil Rights movement, boycotting became a very powerful tool for the black community, as they were able to use boycotting to send a big message with dramatic changes. While white folks were not so concerned with their voices making noise, the focus was then turned onto money. The black community decided to stop using buses to get to work, where some even lost their jobs, leaving them without the funds to purchase things they needed. As a result, businesses suffered without the consumers. It definitely sent a loud message to the government and those in each community.
