Nas Gets His Just Due With Grammy Performance

Just when you want to hate the Grammys for what seems to be the neglect they show authentic Hip Hop, they do something pretty cool. This year, veteran Queens, NY emcee Nas graced the Grammy stage and performed songs he should’ve won Grammys for years ago. While Kanye West was supposedly pulled from performing at the Grammys; someone had the bright idea to give Nas that huge stage to shine upon; and he did. After starting with the uplifting I Know I Can, Nas went a medley of classic and new material. Songs like One Mic, Made You Look and more showed why Nas finally got his just due with this Grammy performance.

Nas was also nominated for two awards at this year’s Grammys, with King’s Disease II up for Best Rap Album and his “Bath Salts” collaboration with the late DMX and JAY-Z in contention for Best Rap Song. After a stellar career that spans almost 3 decades, It’s almost absurd to think Nas won his first Grammy just last year for his Hit Boy produced album, King’s Disease. Just so you understand how crazy this sounds, Jay Z and Kanye West have 24 Grammys apiece. But last night, God’s Son was front and center receiving his flowers from the academy.

Nas Grammy Performance

Nas’s performance drew a standing ovation from inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Jack Harlow, Lil Nas X and J Balvin and more all rose to their feet to applaud and cheer on the legend. With this being his first Grammy performance, we can only hope it won’t be the last. Well deserved Esco! Rock On!
