50 Cent infamously rushed the stage after losing “Best New Artist” in 2004 to Evanescence. The rapper still holds a grudge against The Grammys and made that known during an interview with People Magazine. Im not sure people care about those establishments anymore. My reason for being excited for an awards show is my peers are there to acknowledge the work. If it means that we get to choose ourselves who wins the awards, then why would I show up for them to tell me? At points I felt like I deserved Best New Artist for my record, it was the largest selling debut album with 13 million records sold. When was the last time youve seen Evanescence? Crickets. Crickets. But thats just the way it is.
