It’s been a minute since we’ve seen a full reunion from the iconic hip hop group, but the love that these guys have for each other hasn’t fizzled one bit. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Phife Dawg spoke on his admiration for fellow member Q-Tip, praising his production and conceptual ideas for their debut album. He told the outlet, ” “Epic LP that was way before its time! Q-Tip’s thought process was beyond genius, an album that 25 years later, you can still listen to from top to bottom!!!! I’ve often said there may be better emcees than Q-Tip, may be better producers than him as well, but tell me who can possibly be better than him at both? Call me biased, but I’ll wait!!!!!!!! (TICK, TICK, TICK).”

Q-Tip also commented on the relevancy of his work on their debut album, stating, “I had this album in my head for years before I did it,” Q-Tip said in a statement. “Looking at it overall, to see the thoughts of a 16-year-old gain any kind of acknowledgement makes me feel like I have arrived … But to see it in this incarnation … I’m humbled.” It’s been a long time coming, but now that hip hop seems to be in a great space as far as appreciating lyricism and creativity, this reunion may be coming at the most ideal time period.
