It looks as if buzzing new rap artist, Bobby Shmurda, has apparently inked a deal with Epic Records.
Sha Money XL, the former president of G-Unit Records, and now an Exec at Epic Records, went on a tweeting frenzy displaying his excitement of signing the 20-year-old Brooklyn rapper.
Bobby Shmurda seemingly became popular overnight with a viral song Hot Nigga that comes with a dance called the Shmoney Dance where you shake your hips similar to something a female would do.
“Deal is done bobby_shmurda #EPIC no one does the underdogs better then me. Brooklyn this 1 is for you! http://instagram.com/p/qk_k56CTlW/,” Sha tweeted July 18.
“No one does it better #EPIC bobby_shmurda dizzycleanface Debo We on! http://instagram.com/p/qk__8oiTl5/”
“The celebration! http://instagram.com/p/qlAcZlCTmm/”
“Robin Hood done did it again. @BobbyShmurdaGS9 congrats my G
“New deal Alert! ahh ahh ahhh! #EPIC bobby_shmurda http://instagram.com/p/ql9S5bCTgh/”
Bobby has received stamps from Beyonce doing the dance, to Jay Z talking about the dance and a slew of other rappers including Raekwon and Meek Mill bringing Bobby out at shows to perform the dance and the song.
With a clear southern influence, I’m not sure if this is a step in the right direction for New York City’s hip hop scene but you gotta admit the boy has a pretty good buzz. The name of the game is longevity and if he can accomplish sticking around, and not being a trend, he should be ok.
