On Thursday, Cardi B dropped the single “Be Careful” ahead of her upcoming debut album, Invasion of Privacy, scheduled to drop April 6. The track is a departure from her usual “gangsta b***h” attitude, with the subject matter of the song focusing on what is strongly believed to be her troubled relationship with Migos member Offset.
Over a beat that’s reminiscent of Kanye’s “Heartless” track, Cardi’s lyrics discuss how her significant other’s infidelity are hurting her, and include threats of leaving him if his ways don’t change. The first few bars are pretty representative of the overall song: “I wanna get married, like the Currys, Steph and Ayesha s**t, But we more like Belly, Tommy and Keisha s**t, Gave you TLC, you wanna creep and s**t”.
Offset and Cardi B originally went public with their relationship in early 2017, and in October of that year, Offset proposed to Cardi onstage at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia during the Power 99 Powerhouse concert. You can see a video of the proposal below.

Things were going well between the newly engaged couple from what they showed the world through their social media, but the first rumors of Offset cheating started to circulate in December. His iCloud was allegedly hacked, resulting in a video surfacing that shows a naked woman being recorded by who many believe to be Offset himself. The next month, another video surfaces that reportedly shows Offset cheating with another woman, but Offset quickly refutes it by posting a video of what seems to be Cardi B laying next to him in bed.
In late February, Cardi B did an interview with Cosmopolitan in which she was about her decision to stay with Offset, despite the rumors of him cheating. Here’s what she had to say:

“It’s like everybody is coming down my neck like, ‘Why are you not leaving him? You have low self-esteem.’ I don’t have low self-esteem … I know I look good. I know I’m rich, I know I’m talented. I know I could get any man I want—any basketball player, football player. But I want to work out my shit with my man, and I don’t got to explain why. I’m not your property. This is my life … I’m going to take my time, and I’m going to decide on my decision … It’s not right, what he fucking did — but people don’t know what I did, ’cause I ain’t no angel.”
This interview came a few weeks after a rumor surfaced that Cardi B was pregnant by Offset, a claim that Cardi has gone on record to deny. When a fan commented on her Instagram inquiring about the potential pregnancy, Cardi replied to them, “no b***h I’m just getting fat .Let me fat in peace”.

This alibi didn’t hold up for a lot of her fans once photos surfaced of Cardi B wearing dresses that hide the size of her midsection. If she is in fact pregnant by Offset, this could be a factor at play in their decision to stay together. Despite the pregnancy rumors, Cardi B still plans to perform at Coachella in April.
