It’s been fourteen years since soul singer D’angelo has released an album. Sunday night, he surprised his fans with the release of his new album Black Messiah featuring his band The Vanguard. The album which features appearances from Questlove of The Roots, is a follow-up to D’angelo’s 2000 release Voodoo. In terms of why D’angelo decided to name his new album “Black Messiah,” the artist distributed a pamphlet at his listening session with his thoughts on the current world events. An excerpt from the pamphlet is featured inside. Stream D’angelo’s new album Black Messiah inside via Spotify and let us know what you think. Welcome back D’angelo!
