Today is definitely an iconic day in hip hop history, and no it’s not the anniversary of an album or a tragic death. 8 years ago this week, Cam’Ron and Dame Dash appeared on Bill O’Reilly’s The O’Reilly Factor, where they had one of the most hilarious, yet important conversations to be on television. The duo went on the controversial talk show with O’Reilly, where they discussed rap lyrics and the negative effect that they may have on the youth. Both Dame and Cam’ron went back and forth with the host about rap music not being as negative as it has been portrayed in the media.

Dame argued that he was promoting to children to be an entrepreneur and to be on your grind to help those in the community around you. Once O’Reilly disrupted the conversation by interrupting Dame, arguing against his point, Cam’ron let out his now-famous “You mad!” line that had the whole hip hop community in a frenzy. As expected, O’Reilly was not happy with this result, which led to rappers appearing on the show less and less after Dame and Cam’s appearance. Still, this has to be one of the better moments in hip hop history, being that Cam and Dame were able to shut down Bill O’Reilly.
