Sergio Kitchens, aka Gunna, will remain behind bars at least for the foreseeable future. According to reporter Jewel Wicker, a Fulton County judge denied Gunna bond on Monday (May 23) and set his trial for January 2023.
“I was just in court where a judge denied bond for Gunna and set his trial date for Jan. 9, 2023,” she tweeted. “Prosecutors allege YSL is a gang, not just a record label. They also alleged Gunna serves in a ‘command’ role.”
“Mr. Sergio Kitchens, known as Gunna, is innocent,” Gunna’s legal team told TMZ. “The indictment falsely portrays his music as part of a criminal conspiracy. Mr. Kitchens has been an advocate for his community, and it is our privilege to advocate for him.”
Gunna and Young Thug were arrested earlier this month alongside 26 other YSL associates as part of an 88-page indictment. The 56-count indictment includes charges of violating the RICO Act, murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and more. Young Thug also had 7 additional felonies added on to his long list of charges after authorities raided his home and found drugs and illegal firearms. This is very unfortunate news for the rapper.
