All the stars have been showing up to this year’s Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The popular film festival that runs from January 22-February 1st has become one of the most sought out film festivals of the year. Hip-Hop is playing a huge part at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. A new independent film titled Dope is causing a lot of buzz and has had the highest bidding war of all the movies at the festival thus far. The film which features rapper ASAP Rocky was co-produced by Pharrell Williams and Puff Daddy. It is based on a group of high-school kids in Los Angeles, California who are immersed in Hip-Hop culture. Another film making noise at this year’s festival is Fresh Dressed. The documentary which was written by ego trip magazine founder and writer Sacha Jenkins documents how impoverished youths from the inner-city have influenced the entire fashion industry. Fresh Dressed features famous Hip-Hop tailor Dapper Dan who was known for his popular Harlem atelier that clothed many Hip-Hop stars in the late 80’s. Watch the trailer for both films inside and check out some of our top picks from this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Hip-Hop is taking over!
