5 years ago this past weekend, Kanye West released what has been arguably considered his best album to date, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The rapper dropped his fifth studio LP half a decade ago, and was met with the highest success of his career as far as a project goes. It also came with a ton of controversy, as his album artwork was rejected by many retail outlets when it hit stores, being that it contained nudity and sexual images.

The album debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 496,000 copies during its first week of sales in the U.S. Many outlets and critics named the project the best album of the year, with some even arguing it to be one of the best albums of all-time. MBDTF saw features from JAY Z, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, and John Legend with some amazing production from some of the top producers, as well as `Ye, himself.
