Nelly was recently arrested for drug possession on his tour bus, and in an act to clean up his image that rapper has announced he’s working on a Country music album. The St. Louis native’s manager broke the news to Billboard and is excited for his potential to grow in the dominating music genre. What’s your take on Nelly doing Country music?
He’s a free agent on the label side now, and is working on a country-based “Heartland” EP, which should be really interesting. He may be one of the first hip-hop artists to jump into that space in an authentic way with Florida Georgia Line and Tim McGraw, so we think he has an opportunity to grow that base even more.
