Nicki Minaj has once again condemned her popular single “Starships” and stated that she will no longer perform it.
The Queens native was hired to sing at a New Year’s Eve party at E11EVEN in Miami on Sunday (December 31). At one point during the night, her DJ started playing the 2012 song, but after a few lines of unenthusiastic rapping, the Pink Friday 2 rapper abruptly halted it.
“Sike, sike, sike,” Nicki Minaj told the disappointed audience. “I don’t do that song anymore, y’all!” It irritates me! “What do you want me to do?”

This isn’t Nicki Minaj’s first time speaking out about the smash song. Minaj questioned why she ever made “Starships” in a 2020 Q&A panel appearance with Pollstar Live, while also admitting she wished she had never recorded her 2014 hit track, “Anaconda.”
“So much of my discography,” she says when asked which songs she regrets. “I regret ever recording ‘Anaconda.’ I enjoy the video, but, awful. ‘Your Love’ was my first solo song to chart on Billboard. I still adore the visual, but I despise the music. I could keep going. I despise ‘Starships,’ I mean, ‘Starships?’ ‘Why did I do that?’ I think. That’s what I think every time I hear it.”
