The Ellen Degeneres Show has come to a halt after 19 years on the air. The popular show is said to ending after some speculations began stirring. Ellen had this to say.
“Welcome to our very last show, I walked out here 19 years ago and I said that this is the start of a relationship and today is not the end of a relationship, it’s more of a little break. It’s, ‘You can see other talk shows now’ and I might see other audiences once in a while,” she said.
“20 years ago when we were trying to sell this show, no one thought that this would work,” she continued. “Not because it was a different kind of show, but because I was different. Very few stations wanted to buy the show and here we are 20 years later celebrating this amazing journey together.”
Although the show has millions of adoring fans, she recently faced criticism for having a toxic workplace for her employees. In July, Degeneres released a statement apologizing to her staffers days. This was after it was announced that WarnerMedia had launched an investigation into her show amid allegations of a toxic working environment.
“On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness. — No one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect. Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry,” she wrote.
