The Hip-Hop Community Responds to the Ferguson Grand Jury Decision

The Hip-Hop community is in an uproar following the grand jury’s decision in the killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown. It was announced by the grand jury in Ferguson on Monday, November 24th that Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson would not be indicted for the fatal shooting of Michael Brown that took place on August 9th, 2014. Many people took to the streets to protest all over the country in disbelief of the grand jury’s decision. Riots took place all through the night in the town of Ferguson, Missouri. In New York City More than 1,000 protestors marched from Union Square to upper Manhattan on Monday night. Three New York bridges were shut down while protestors held up signs that read “Black Lives Matter,” “Jail Killer Cops” and “Hands Up, don’t shoot!” Rapper/producer Q-Tip joined NYC protestors. In Seattle, Washington, rapper Macklemore joined over 200 protestors to protest the grand jury’s decision.
