It’s a bold move for any outlet to reveal their own top 10 rappers list, but Billboard is stepping into the usually heated debate in hip hop. The music outlet revealed their “10 Greatest Rappers Of All Time” list that they have compiled, and it’s definitely leaving room for some intense debating amongst their rap fan demographic. While a newer name such as Kendrick Lamar landed a spot at number 9, some unexpected ones also made the list, such as Ghostface Killah at number 8, and Lil Wayne at number 10.

When it comes to their top 5, it’s definitely the section that may launch many in debate mode, as they list The Notorious B.I.G. with the number one spot, JAY Z at number two, Eminem at number 3, Rakim at number 4, and Nas at number 5. Some fans may find it surprising that Tupac did not make the list, but Andre 3000 and Lauryn Hill did. Their reason for putting Biggie in the top spot stated, “Biggie never dropped a single bad song, or a single errant bar.”
