For years, a lot of us had questions regarding Tommy’s character from Martin. While he did provide a handful of quips every now and then, people were more concerned about one thing: Why the heck didn’t he have a job? Well, apparently, Tommy actually did have a 9-5.

During a podcast interview with BOSSIP, acclaimed black actress, Tisha Campbell-Martin, spilled the tea regarding Tommy’s place of employment. “Tommy really did have a job, I’ll give you a hint,” she said before fully giving away the answer. “The woman I was gonna fight, she was Martin’s teacher; Beverly Johnson, in that episode that’s the first time you hear about Tommy’s job. So Tommy talks about him being in the Boys & Girls Club. He was a counselor at the Boys & Girls Club. That’s what he did for a living.”

There you have it. Tommy wasn’t a bum after all. During his time on Martin, actor, Thomas Mikal Ford did have issues with his character not developing more. “‘No one knows what I do for a job, they keep asking me what I do!’” Campbell-Martin said. “So then they started putting in the script that Tommy has no job.” SHARE with your friends.
