Eminem brought a special surprise to this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the form of pasta. What kind of pasta? Spaghetti, of course. Em opened up a kiosk at the festival titled “Mom’s Spaghetti”, named after an iconic line from his massively popular song “Lose Yourself”. The line describes a moment before he takes center stage in a rap battle, and his relationship with said dish: “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti”.
The Coachella kiosk brings the flavor of that moment to life by offering fans and Stans a choice between three dishes: A spaghetti dinner, Spaghetti with meatballs, or a spaghetti-and-meatball sub, which includes mozzarella and garlic bread as the buns. In accordance with the somewhat-exorbitant prices of food at Coachella, the prices are listed at $9, $12, and $11, respectively.

A couple days ago, Eminem enigmatically advertised the pop-up eatery through an Instagram post, showing a billboard that says, “Mom’s Spaghetti”, and a fork styled to resemble a hand flipping the bird, which you can see in the post above. Here’s a more specific ad that Eminem posted a day later:

This isn’t the first “Mom’s Spaghetti” to hit the streets. Back in December 2017, Eminem celebrated the release of his Revival album by hosting a pop-up shop in Detroit called “Mom’s Spaghetti” at a venue called The Shelter. Rather than just a food stand, the shop also included exclusive merchandise and visuals to accompany the new music that was playing off of his album. The location it was hosted at, The Shelter, bears the same name as the venue in Eminem’s movie 8 Mile. Here, the prices were a little more reasonable than Coachella’s: $5 for a box of spaghetti, $8 with meatballs, and $5 for the spaghetti sandwich.

Eminem may have taken some inspiration from Post Malone’s antics for his pop-up shop. Back at Coachella 2017, quite a stir was caused when Posty dropped eight bands on Popeye’s. According to TMZ, Post Malone used Postmates to order 10,000 biscuits to Coachella to celebrate his Stoney album going platinum. Check out the video below.
