Yesterday, Gucci Mane made an audacious proposal over Twitter, offering one million cash to Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug to record a 12-track mixtape at Gucci’s Polar Bear Studios.
At face value, it may seem a regular business move by Gucci to unite to the two rappers. However, if one is familiar with the history between the two, Gucci is asking for a lot more than just a collaboration mixtape.

Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug aren’t on the friendliest terms at the moment, with Thugger in particular keeping his distance. Friction between the two seems to have been rooted in a 2015 interview Rich Homie Quan did with The Durtty Boyz, in which Quan insinuates that he plans to distance himself from Rich Gang to work on his solo career. See the video below.

Less than a month later, a video surfaces of a Young Thug concert in which Thugger alludes to the interview and proceeds to refer to Quan as “B***h Homie Quan”. After the incident, Quan is repeatedly asked by various outlets about his situation with Young Thug. His general response is that he has no beef with Thug and that he wishes him the best, but has noted that they aren’t on speaking terms.
Even though Quan distanced himself from Rich Gang, he has claimed in an interview after the “B***h Homie” incident that he’s still associated with Rich Gang and that he still has love for Birdman. That doesn’t seem to be enough for Young Thug to be rushing to do any music with Quan any time soon. In response to Gucci Mane’s tweet, Thug said “U no I’m the n**ga got u together wen u came home kid… I’m strait 4life”. See the original tweet below.

No one has said for certain what Young Thug is referring to in his tweet directed at Gucci Mane, but some suggest that Thugger is reminding Gucci that he put him on with some cash upon his release from prison. Considering Gucci Mane being 12 years Thug’s senior, referring to Gucci as “kid” was somewhat of a slight towards Guwop and emphasized his implication that a milli isn’t enough of an incentive to work with Quan.
If his estimated worth of $3 million (2017) is at all accurate, even splitting $1 million with Quan would be a sweet chunk of change for Young Thug. Even if that may be true, it’s unlikely we’ll be hearing the proposed mixtape soon, if ever.
