Rapper Scarface is definitely considered one of the OG’s in the rap game, so today, we should celebrate him and his legacy. Turning 45 today, the Houston native is getting another year older, and continuing to spread his conscious wisdom throughout the hip hop community. Let’s take a look back at the incredible career of Scarface, and his building legendary legacy.

The MC started out his career as DJ Akshen, working closely with Lil Troy on a local label in Houston in 1989. He later moved on to replacing a member of the Geto Boys before their second album, Grip It! On That Other Level in 1989. He later renamed himself Scarface, which was after the highly famous film of 1983. Shortly after, his success surpassed those of the Geto Boys, forwarding him to launch his own solo career.
