Class is in session! On Thursday, April 12, one of NBA YoungBoy’s associates posted a photo to his Instagram, showing the rapper at a table with what looks to be his son and a private teacher.
The caption of the photo reads, “@nba_youngboy 1st day of home school! #education #1 #goodmoneyglobal #neverbrokeagain #38baby”. This positive chapter of YoungBoy’s career comes in the wake of a turbulent legal history that nearly resulted in a revocation of his current probation.

NBA YoungBoy has been on probation as early as 2016, when he was involved in a non-fatal driveby shooting. The shooting was suspected to be in retaliation for the murder of Keondrae Ricks, also known as NBA Boosie, YoungBoy’s cousin and fellow rapper. After spending six months in prison awaiting trial, he was released on $50,000 bail, three years probation, and a suspended sentence of ten years in prison after pleading guilty to a count of aggravated assault. This was an improvement from his former $200,000 bond, which was set when he was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
His latest run-in with the law happened back in February, when footage was captured of NBA YoungBoy handling his girlfriend Jania Jackson aggressively and throwing her to the ground. The incident occurred in a hotel in Waycross, Georgia, but by the time police arrived, Jania and YoungBoy were gone.

He was arrested later that night in Tallahassee, Florida right before he was scheduled to perform at The Moon nightclub. According to Leon County Sheriff’s Department inmate database, he was wanted in Georgia for kidnapping, weapons violations, and committing assault. On March 15, 2018, YoungBoy was released from prison on $75,000 bail.
Luckily, at NBA YoungBoy’s court date in late March, the judge presiding over the case decided not to revoke his probation, but instead added new terms to it. YoungBoy has been ordered to undergo counseling, complete community service work at the New Orleans Mission, complete a domestic abuse program, and have a GPS monitor installed. On top of those terms, he also is required to stay away from bars and clubs, stay off of social media, enroll in a GED program, and stay within the state of Louisiana (except for court dates in Atlanta).
Even though YoungBoy has been off of social media, he’s been putting in work on his YouTube channel. A week ago, NBA YoungBoy released three new music videos on his channel, for the songs “Diamond Teeth Samurai”, “Through The Storm”, and “Genie”. Check out his latest video for “Genie” below.
