Don’t get it twisted, however, as The Game doesn’t just rely simply on his veteran status features to pull him into the higher-rated album status. The rapper has made it known that he has been a huge fan of East Coast hip-hop over the years, and pays homage to some of his favorites on “New York, New York.” Without any other MC’s in sight, The Game spits some of his hardest bars over the 2-and-a-half-minute track.

While The Game is able to prove that he can carry out parts of the project all on his own, the track list does have some surprising names on there that shouldn’t be overlooked. Not only did Dr. Dre give the final approval to The Documentary 2, but he even spits a verse on “Don’t Trip,” joining his former N.W.A. partner, Ice Cube. The song even sees production from will.i.am, who steps away from his work in pop to bring us back to the streets. Disc 1 of the album concludes with an epic track honoring Los Angeles, his mother land, which sees the likes of Snoop Dogg and Fergie, also being produced by will.i.am. All of this is only the beginning, as disc 2 is set to be released this week, with even more A-list hip-hop veterans and MC’s.
