The contemporary MC is no longer just evaluated on their lyrical prowess, discography or the strength of the crew they belong to. Today’s rappers are now also judged by their business acumen and ability to diversify the hustle. The redefinition of the modern MC must be attributed to one man…Jay-Z. For all that he has accomplished as a musician and songwriter, he is now more heralded for his many ventures outside of hip hop. These include Rocawear, 40/40 Club, Roc Nation Management, and his minority seat with the Brooklyn Nets. Everything this dude touches turns to gold. He’s got Beyonce, plaques, a reserved spot on the Forbes list, and apparently the Midas touch.

There you have it. The PERFECT MC has been designed.
