After teaming up together in 2014 for their collaboration “Take Kare,” everybody thought that the tandem of Wayne and Thug would continue to flourish over the next couple of months. In reality, beef ensued. After Wayne’s Tha Carter V was pushed back, Thugger announced two days later that he would release his mixtape the Tha Carter VI, in which he thought was a form of homage to his favorite rapper.
An exasperated Wayne voiced his disdain for Thugger’s decision and constantly spewed malice towards his direction. He lashed out at Thug during one of his shows when he said “ain’t no motherf**kin’ such thing as Carter 6.” Thug would later change the name to Barter 6 and bravely opt to perform in Wayne’s hometown of Hollygrove, New Orleans in support of his new project.
