Tyler, The Creator, who’s birth name is Tyler Gregory Okonma, has been arrested on a Class A Misdemeanor this past Saturday (March 15) afternoon at an airport in Texas.
Authorities say they had a warrant for his arrest in connection with inciting a riot at the SXSW music festival in Austin, TX on Thursday (March 13).
According to Austin police Tyler, “encouraged behavior causing an immediate danger and injury to persons…” The report goes on to state, “…Regardless of the size of a crowd, the encouragement of unruly and unlawful behavior is against the law and cannot be tolerated.”
The Austin Police Department released an Instagram video of Tyler the Creator encouraging the crowd by yelling “All y’all outside the gates, y’all push through!”
“Y’all push through, come on!” This, of course, lead to a riot. According to the warrant, an employee attempted to stop a stampeding crowd from trampling over a woman and was punched in the face in the in the process.
Tyler’s concert was cancelled the night before due to a driver plowing his car into a crowd of people waiting to get in the venue leaving two dead and 23 injured. The driver, Rashad Charjuan Owens, is being held in Travis County Jail without bond on two counts of capital murder and 23 counts of aggravated assault for the incident.
Tyler, The Creator is being held on a $25,000 bond.
