It’s been 21 years since Method Man came on the scene as a solo artist, making another career path for himself separate from his Wu-Tang Clan ties. The Staten Island MC dropped his Tical debut album over two decades ago this past weekend, which was released through Def Jam Records. The project saw majority of its production from his fellow Wu member, RZA, and reached a peak spot of no. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart at the time. The title, Tical, is based on a blunt that is laced with an adulterant or another psychoactive substance.

Many hip hop heads over the years have argued the project to be a classic hip hop album, seeing singles such as “Bring The Pain,” as well as “I’ll Be There For You/You’re All I Need To Get By. The album also included the “Meth vs. Chef” record, which shows the talents of both Meth and Raekwon, who go head-to-head with their bars. The project was the further proving of Method Man’s talents to the rap community, showing the culture that he could carry out a solo project as a classic.
