Wale just dropped The Album About Nothing and sat down with Billboard to explain his creative process while making the project. According to the DMV based rapper, he feels like he’s slept on in hip-hop, which led to his questionable actions.

I was depressed not being where I wanna be in my career when Ive put the work in. I wasnt sleeping. I was drinking all day and I didnt have anyone to go to. I couldnt fight it. Those are some of the demons I talk about on the album.

The rapper continued to rant about his lack of respect from hip-hop fans and publications. Do you think he’s slept on?

I dont get no major articles. Nobody talks about Wale like that. So what do you do when youre busting your ass and taking pills to stay up and be able to provide the right energy, and youre not seeing the proper response?
