Grand Master Flash and The Furious Five

[mobilead]

Grand Master Flash and The Furious Five rose to fame in the early 1980s with their first successful single “Freedom.” Later they would drop their magnum opus “The Message,” which is often cited among the most influential hip hop songs ever. Grand Master Flash also changed the evolution of DJing. He is known for creating the backspin technique (aka quick mix theory) and punch phrasing (aka clock theory). Grand Wizard Theodore is given the credit for inventing scratching, but Flash perfected it and took it to the next level. The title of Grand Master (or Grand Wizard), to this day, is only reserved for the masters of the craft.
