Formed in New York City in 1982, Public Enemy consists of Chuck D, Flavor Flav, & DJ Lord. They’re often associated with their politically charged lyrics and criticism of the American government. They pioneered a new voice in hip hop that was unafraid to be smart, angry, and politically conscious in the face of injustice and discrimination. Not to mention they had the best hype man EVER.
