Rapper Trippie Redd, born Michael Lamar White II, signed to Elliot Grainge’s 10k projects (then Strainge Ent.) at age 16. After a multitude of successful releases, the artist has re upped his deal with 10k for a reported $30 Million. Redd had taken to social media earlier this month with the news but many people thought the 22 year old may have been exaggerating. This was until label head Elliot Grainge, son of Universal head Lucien Grainge, confirmed the rapper did indeed close the lucrative deal.
“We launched 10K Projects as a label where artists have complete creative freedom and the support to realize their vision,” Grainge said in an official press release. “Trippie Redd has thrived under these conditions, releasing a lifetime’s worth of music in just five short years and becoming a singular voice in contemporary music. I know I speak for everyone at the label when I say I am so honored and humbled to be able to continue our extraordinary partnership with Trippie for years to come.”
Trippie Redd signs $30 Million… Sweet
The rapper didn’t dig too deep into specifics. However, Trippie stated that the deal was indeed a 3 project, 3 album deal. I’m not quite sure what the difference between an “album” and a “project” is, but I’m pretty sure that’s just a cooler way to say a 6 album deal. But at $30 Million, that may just be well worth it.
The rapper also gave a short run down of his experience with 10k. “Elliot signed me when I was 16. From the start, he’s always pushed me to do everything on my own terms which is the most important thing to me. I’m grateful to have had him as a partner for this long and excited to make more hits with 10K and keep growing together.”
Rapper Lil Durk just posted that he just did a deal for $40 Million with his label… This generation is making bank!
