Over the years, rapper Soulja Boy has claimed to be the first to do many, many things in Hip Hop. In fact, ae has become more known for his trendsetting claims than his actual music. Outside of claiming to be the first internet rapper, owning the first iPhone, and pioneering major success via social media, he now has added another to this list. According to him, It was he, Soulja Boy, who invented Tik Tok.
While being interviewed on It’s Tricky With Raquel Harper, Soulja Boy spoke about his accomplishments. He claimed TikTok wouldn’t be where it is today if it wasn’t for his meteoric breakout in the mid-2000s, which sparked the “Crank That” dance craze.
Soulja went on to say, “I got Beyoncé doing the ‘Crank That (Soulja Boy).” This was in reference to the singer and her dancers doing the dance in 2007. “I created TikTok! It wouldn’t be no TikTok if it wasn’t for Soulja Boy.” he added.
Soulja Boy Says he Invented Tik Tok
When asked, “What about the owner of Tik Tok?” Soulja replied, “The owner of TikTok heard ‘Crank That (Soulja Boy)’ too! He seen the video too! He was like, ‘I’m finna make this app right now. Look at these dances, this is a great way to make money, kids dancing to a song.’ Can I get my 10 percent, TikTok?”
Sometimes it’s hard to tell is Soulja is trolling, or if he really believes some of these outlandish claims. Just recently he attempted to gift Harvey Levin, founder of TMZ a pair of his new Soulja Star sneakers. Harvey respectful declined. Levin said he didn’t even want them in his closet. Geesh!
